Youtube blocked in Pakistan in protest of Anti Islamic Film

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed the IT Ministry to immediately block Youtube. He said that Blasphemous content will not be accepted at any cost. He ordered the IT Ministry to block Youtube because video-sharing website failed to remove the anti-Islam film (Innocence of Muslims).

PTA directed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) throughout the country to block links of the anti-Islam film. According to a statement issued by the PTA, 750-800 links of the anti-Islam film had already been blocked after several complaints were received.

Brief History:

The trailor of Anti-Islam film “Innocence of Muslims” of about 14 minutes in length were uploaded to YouTube in July 2012. The Trailor was later dubbed in Arabic Language in early September and an excerpt of this YouTube video was broadcasted on Al-Nas TV on September 8, 2012. Violent protests against the film broke out on September 11 in Egypt and Libya and then spread to Yemen and other Muslim Countries. Nakoula Basseley Nakoula (an Egyptian-American Coptic Christian) is thought to be the writer, producer and distributor of this film. This low budget film portrayed Prophet Muhammad as philanderer and a religious fake and thus hurted the feelings of  Muslims across the world. White House asked Google to consider if this video violated their terms of service. Google issued a statement that it plans to keep the movie up in most countries but will restrict access to the video in countries like Egypt, Libya, India, and Indonesia. Afghanistan blocked youtube on September 12, 2012 and on September 17, 2012 it was blocked in Pakistan as well. This block will remain in place until this film is removed.

Joomla 3.0 to be released on or about 24 September 2012

Joomla 3.0 is to be released on or about September 24, 2012. This version of Joomla will be a standard-term-support (STS) release.  Websites running Joomla 2.5 will not probably need to update to version 3.o but instead wait for the version 3.5 which will be the next long term support release. But if you want to update to version 3.o, it will depend on the extensions that you have installed and wont be possible until those extensions have version 3.0 compatible updates available.

3.0 update will not show auto-updates in the Joomla! Update of Joomla 2.5 and only version 2.5.x updates will show. Joomla 2.5 was a long-term-support (LTS) release and will be supported at least until September 2013. If you are using Joomla 1.5, you will have to migrate to version 2.5 and then update to version 3.0
